Common Protocols
Windows 2003 supports many different networking protocols.
Different protocols are needed for communication with systems,
devices, and computers in various environments. Some protocols
are routable, and others are not. Based on which protocols are
used by a client computer, you can determine whether or
not that computer can communicate with other computers in a
routed Windows 2003 network. The common network protocols that
you can use with Windows 2003 are:
-
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
-
Internetwork Packet Exchange/Sequenced Packet Exchange
(IPX/SPX).
-
NetBIOS Enhanced User Interface (NetBEUI).
-
AppleTalk.
